Thought for the day
The best political, social, and spiritual work we can do is to withdraw the projection of our shadow onto others.

Back from Mind States IV
In case you've been wondering why it's been so quiet in this little corner of cyberspace, it's because I've been traveling and haven't spent much time online. Now that I've returned from last weekend's Mind States conference in Berkeley I will have a little more time to update the Matrix Masters site. In a couple of days I'll be posting some thoughts about the conference, which was one of the best I've ever attended. It was really great to see so many old friends and to make so many new friends. My hat is off to Jon Hanna and all of the wonderful volunteers who made Mind States IV a magical weekend!
And to those of you I saw but never got through the crowd to talk with (like Bruce...hi Bruce) ... sorry about that .... maybe our paths will cross again at Burning Man :-)

First they came for the Communists, and I didnt speak up, because I wasnt a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didnt speak up, because I wasnt a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didnt speak up, because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by then there was no one left to speak up for me.

Humanity has just entered what is probably the greatest transformation it has ever known . . . something is happening in the structure of human consciousness. It is another species of life that is just beginning.

There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking laws.

Thought for the day
To me, the spectacle of demagogues sending millions of people to their deaths, wrecking the world with holy wars and bloodshed, tearing down nations to put over some religious or political 'truth' is -" He shrugged. "Obscene. Filthy - they're the opinions of absolutist individuals forced on whole continents. And it has nothing to do with the sincerity of the leader. Or the followers. The fact that they believe it makes it even more obscene. The fact that they could kill each other and die voluntarily over meaningless verbalisms...

Thought for the day
[The following are comments about Little Bush's brazen use of the U.S. military for his personal glorification.]
I do not begrudge his salute to America's warriors aboard the carrier Lincoln, for they have performed bravely, ... but I do question the motives of a desk-bound president who assumes the garb of a warrior for the purposes of a speech. . . . This is not some made-for-TV backdrop for a campaign commercial. . . . To me, it is an affront to the Americans killed or injured in Iraq for the president to exploit the trappings of war for the momentary spectacle of a speech.

I think that most people who are even vaguely aware feel this giddy sense that something's wrong and things are really fucked up. It's pretty hard to miss the signs. Unless you're Bush.

What a pathetic little man is Mr. Bush
There is no telling how much taxpayer money was spent so that Little Bush could have a photo-op looking like some Saudi prince pretending to be a fighter pilot. I suspect that most of my fellow Viet Nam veterans are as revolted as I that this draft-dodging AWOLer is using the men and women of the armed forces as a backdrop for his re-election campaign. IMHO there is little difference in Bush pretending to be a hero than when his apparent role model, Caligula, did the same in ancient Rome. How sad to see this once great nation debased so thoroughly with these military displays. How long, I wonder, will it be before Little Bush begins wearing a military uniform all the time?
